Is there any reason why I can’t have eyelash extensions applied?
The following clients may not wear eyelash extensions:
Miss Eye Rubber- It is suggested that if you are an “eye-rubber” due to allergies such as hay fever or rubbing your eyes is a habit, you may not be able to wear extensions.
Miss Sensitivity- Having irritation around the eye area after using skin care or makeup, extensions may not suit you. Sensitive eyes (itchy eyes, seasonal hay fever etc.) could cause lashes to fall off prematurely. Any allergies such as latex or acrylates (acrylic nails) and lashes are not recommended.
Miss Sneezy Sniffles- If you have a cold, sinus or allergy infection, please do not have this service done! Your lashes will not last a long time due to secretions and irritation from the eye area.
Miss Curly Q-Due to your lashes being curly you are definitely not a good candidate for extensions. Lash extensions must be applied to straight lashes to lay properly. Curly lashes tend to shorten the lash wear time. Generally, people with curly lashes, extensions may only last up to three days before they start to lift.
Miss “I Have No Lashes”- A person without any lashes may not wear lashes because there is no where to place them. Extensions must be placed on the natural lash and not the skin. These clients must refer to a strip lash.
Miss Fidgety- Must be able to lie on your back for at least 2 hours. If you are pregnant, it may not be possible to lay flat on your back for the required amount of time.
I do not have any eyelashes, can I get eyelash extensions?
Unfortunately no. The extensions must have hairs to adhere to but we may be able to help you with strip eyelashes and makeup techniques.
Can I swim with eyelash extensions?
Swimming can shorten the life of the extensions for some people. Everyone is different. Showering with hot water can also affect the extensions. The adhesives are waterproof but the hair shafts absorb water which can loosen the adhesive bond. Unfortunately, there is not a correct answer for everyone. As with most products, everyone can react differently to the same product.
Will eyelash extensions make my own eyelashes fall out?
Not if the eyelash extensions are applied correctly, but your natural lashes do shed every 30-60 days. NaturaLash eyelash extensions have been worn for years with no need for a “break”. Proper application and maintenance is the key to prevent damage. DO NOT pull on your extensions! If you pull the extensions off, your natural eyelash will come out with the extensions.
How can I make my eyelash extensions last longer?
Follow the AFTERCARE instructions. Constantly rubbing your eyes or cleaning them vigorously will certainly decrease their longevity. Do not use any oil containing cleansers or waterproof mascara. We do not recommend using mascara but if you find that you want to wear mascara, we have a special mascara made especially for NaturaLash eyelash extensions.
What kind of maintenance is needed?
They do require some maintenance and aftercare instructions must be followed for best results. A refill service is needed every 2-4 weeks. Eyelash extensions are worn fairly carefree. You may shower and swim while wearing them. Try to avoid rubbing eyes or using products around your eyes that are not specially formulated for eyelash extensions, particularly products containing oils as this will cause the extensions to fall off prematurely. Upon placement of a full set of eyelash extensions you will be given aftercare instructions to help keep your eyelash extensions in the best shape. These instructions can be found under the AFTERCARE tab.
How many eyelash extensions are applied to each eye?
There will be at least 30-60 extensions per eye. Remember that you are limited to the number of natural eyelashes available that eyelash extensions can attach to. Even sparse eyelashes will be greatly enhanced with eyelash extensions.
How long does it take to have the eyelash extensions applied?
A full set of eyelash extensions will take about 2 hours to apply. This is a very tedious and time consuming procedure but the results are definitely worth it! Refill service will take 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the number of eyelash extensions that need to be replaced.
Will I be able to feel the lashes once they are applied?
If properly applied, almost all the clients say that they do not feel any different. You might feel extra weight but you will quickly become accustomed to this. The products do not contact your skin and there are no punctures in the skin. The application procedure is painless.
How long do eyelash extensions last?
Eyelash extensions are an ongoing service. They must be “refilled” every 2-5 weeks depending on many factors including your lifestyle, skin type, etcetera. At the refill service, the technician will remove any lashes that have grown out or become loose. New extensions will be applied until the eyelashes are full and complete again.
